Kothari brothers hoisted saffron on Babri, died in firing after 3 days
About 30,000 UP PAC personnel were deployed around the disputed site and in Ayodhya city. On this day, brothers named Sharad (20 years) and Ramkumar Kothari (23 years) hoisted the saffron flag on the dome of Babri Masjid.
From 21 to 30 October 1990, lakhs of kar sevaks had gathered in Ayodhya. Everyone was preparing to go towards the disputed site. There was heavy security around the disputed site. Amidst the curfew in Ayodhya, at around 10 am, kar sevaks started moving towards the Babri Masjid from all four directions. Leaders like Ashok Singhal, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar were leading them. About 30,000 UP PAC personnel were deployed around the disputed site and in Ayodhya city. On this day, brothers named Sharad (20 years) and Ramkumar Kothari (23 years) hoisted the saffron flag on the dome of Babri Masjid.
Kar sevaks had reached the disputed site by breaking the barricading by bus
Sadhus-saints and kar sevaks overpowered the bus of the security forces at 11 o'clock in which the police had kept the kar sevaks in custody to drop them outside the city. These buses were parked near the Hanuman Garhi temple. Meanwhile, a monk pushed the bus driver down. After that he himself sat on the steering wheel of the bus. Breaking the barricades, the bus moved rapidly towards the disputed premises. When the way opened due to breaking of barricading, more than 5000 kar sevaks reached the disputed site.
Had to fire bullets to handle the situation
Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of UP at that time. His clear instructions were that no harm should be done to the mosque. The police were earlier given clear instructions to use only tear gas shells to disperse the people. But, after the barricading was broken, the kar sevaks climbed the dome of the disputed structure. There, the Kothari brothers hoisted the saffron flag. After this the police fired on the kar sevaks. According to government figures, 5 kar sevaks lost their lives in the firing that took place in Ayodhya on 30 October 1990. CRPF jawans beat up both the Kothari brothers and chased them away.

21 से 30 अक्टूबर 1990 तक अयोध्या में लाखों की संख्या में कारसेवक जुट चुके थे. सब विवादित स्थल की ओर जाने की तैयारी में थे. विवादित स्थल के चारों तरफ भारी सुरक्षा थी. अयोध्या में लगे कर्फ्यू के बीच सुबह करीब 10 बजे चारों दिशाओं से बाबरी मस्जिद की ओर कारसेवक बढ़ने लगे. इनका नेतृत्व कर रहे थे अशोक सिंघल, उमा भारती, विनय कटियार जैसे नेता. विवादित स्थल के चारों तरफ और अयोध्या शहर में यूपी पीएसी के करीब 30 हजार जवान तैनात किए गए थे. इसी दिन बाबरी मस्जिद के गुंबद पर शरद (20 साल) और रामकुमार कोठारी (23 साल) नाम के भाइयों ने भगवा झंडा फहराया.
बस से बैरिकेडिंग तोड़कर विवादित स्थल तक पहुंचे थे कारसेवक
साधु-संतों और कारसेवकों ने 11 बजे सुरक्षाबलों की उस बस को काबू कर लिया जिसमें पुलिस ने कारसेवकों को हिरासत में लेकर शहर के बाहर छोड़ने के लिए रखा था. इन बसों को हनुमान गढ़ी मंदिर के पास खड़ा किया गया था. इसी बीच, एक साधु ने बस ड्राइवर को धक्का देकर नीचे गिरा दिया. इसके बाद वो खुद ही बस की स्टीयरिंग पर बैठ गया. बैरिकेडिंग तोड़ते हुए बस विवादित परिसर की ओर तेजी से बढ़ी. बैरिकेडिंग टूटने से रास्ता खुला तो 5000 हजार से ज्यादा कारसेवक विवादित स्थल तक पहुंच गए।
मुलायम सिंह यादव उस वक्त यूपी के मुख्यमंत्री थे, उनका साफ निर्देश था कि मस्जिद को कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुंचना चाहिए. पुलिस को पहले स्पष्ट निर्देश दिया गया था कि लोगों को तितर-बितर करने के लिए केवल आंसू गैस के गोले छोड़े जाएं. लेकिन, बैरिकेडिंग टूटने के बाद कारसेवक विवादित ढांचे के गुंबद पर चढ़ गए. वहां, कोठारी बंधुओं ने भगवा झंडा फहरा दिया. इसके बाद पुलिस ने कारसेवकों पर फायरिंग की. सरकारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार 30 अक्टूबर 1990 को अयोध्या में हुई फायरिंग में 5 कारसेवकों की जान चली गई. सीआरपीएफ के जवानों ने दोनों कोठारी भाइयों को पीटकर खदेड़ दिया.
